Biography
Maria was born in Galicia (today western Ukraine) in May 1891. She emigrated to Canada with her parents in 1906. The family settled in Fort William, Ontario (now Thunder Bay). In 1907 she married Jan Ilnicki who was also from Galicia. Jan and Maria had five children born between 1910 and 1920. They eventually moved with their family to the Niagara region where they were living in the mid-1930s.
